| Game Creation |
Greetings, Game Inventors! There are thousands of games in every form you can imagine. In our desire to be entertained, we have developed countless activities to compete in some way. There are games played on 100 yard long fields or on kitchen table tops. There are game pieces ranging from one ton formula racing cars to one inch pawns. Some games are played alone or in great mobs.Games play a major role in our lives. The Game Creation Stimulator (GCS) is a celebration of the gaming spirit. Inside each one of us is a game waiting to be played. As individuals, we each have our own unique expression. Our imaginations are as diverse as snowflakes. For each game that sits on the shelf, a hundred sit in our heads. This webpage was designed as a tool to help make your own game a playable reality. I can't tell you how to imagine or create, I can only hope to make it easier for you to do so. The Game Creation Stimulator lists many of the most common game parts to help your game take shape. But don't limit your ideas to the confines of this list. Use the Game Creation Stimulator as a starting point and let your ideas grow. When developing a game it is important to remember your primary goal, to have fun. You are not facing a deadline, nor is there an angry boss breathing down your neck. You should not even think of royalty checks and distribution deals! The game business is competitive. It takes considerable time, effort and money to get a game into the stores. OK, maybe you have just developed the next Monopoly, it can happen. What is important is FUN. Nobody plays a game to have a bad time. I suggest you dive into this page and get busy designing your own entertainment. Have fun! Ideas...? Where...? An idea is worth nothing if it is never more than just an idea. Sure, you may get some enjoyment from an idea as it dances in your brain, but other than that, it has no value. On the other hand, an idea can be worth a fortune if only given a chance at reality. Think about all the games you've ever played. Each one of them started in someone's head. Maybe the finished product is a cooperative effort of many minds, but that first sensation of an idea was born of one brain. Since each one of us has a brain, we, too, have that power to create games ourselves. |
